Cruising Kelowna the right way

We were here in Kelowna for two weeks on vacation and had the pleasure of riding around town on these two bikes. A basic Electra cruiser and a blue Amsterdam. We cycled from one end of town to the other several times, gathering nothing but complementary comments from passes by as we did. The white basket on the front of the Amsterdam was a perfect shopping accessory for the pick up of knick knacks along the way.

Rocky Mountain Element

My bike is a Rocky Mountain Element. It has been to the 2009 Salty Dog Enduro, 2009 Test of Metal race, the 2009 Stoked to Get Spanked race, and numerous other rides around the Okanagan.

Anarchist Mountain lookout

Here’s a picture of me and my bike at the Anarchist Mountain lookout. I have a love/hate relationship with that mountain. Every year my husband and I climb it when we’re camping down in Osoyoos. Eight km of steady climb, trying to PR every time -painful!

I was a couch-potato most of my life until I got my first road bike in 2006 and I’ve never looked back! Later, I added running and swimming to the mix, but cycling will always be my first love.

Despite weighing as much as a small car and being completely un-aerodynamic, I love road riding. Then when things chill down in the fall, its time to bring out the cross bike, hop some barriers, run up some hills, and smile. See you out there.

I love my Norco Bigfoot

I love my Norco Bigfoot as it can handle the ups and the downs. It’s an amazing climber for a heavier bike and can handle the abuse I give it on a regular basis.

This bike has seen many trails in the Okanagan including Smith Creek, Crawford, Glenmore Highlands, Knox and many more.

A responsive bike that provides me with endless hours of excitement. At 6 foot 4 I was looking for a larger Hardtail and this Norco was a perfect fit.

Gotta love this bike!

Gotta love this bike! I use it to go to and from class, ride to work, and then tear up trails in the evening. I either ride it with my slicks for the road or throw on some knobbies for trails. It has taken me on many great adventures and there’s tons still to come!

I just had to tell you about my cruiser bike from Kelowna Cycle. They have all the kewl accessories to go with it too. The cute basket for the front; lights, and don’t forget the must have bell.
